CONSTANTINIAN ORDER OF SAINT GEORGE

The Constantinian Order is a religious institution, dedicated to promote assistance, humanitarian, cultural and patrimonial actions in accordance with Christian principles. The Constantinian Order aspires to influence today’s world through charity, in areas such as assistance to people threatened by poverty, exclusion, war, or those who are persecuted for their confession, as well as in the promotion of Culture as tangible and intangible heritage.

The Constantinian Order is one of the oldest equestrian-religious orders of international scope of which today they remain active in the world. Established in the XI century in the East Roman Empire and recognized as a religious order by the Catholic Church since the XVI century, the Order established its headquarters in Italy for more than three centuries. Currently with the headquarters of its Great Magisterium in Spain, it has more than 3,000 members (knights, ladies and ecclesiastics) organized in 9 National Commissions in countries of Europe and America. Maintaining relationship with much states of the world in which it is present, particularly The Holy See, the Kingdom of Spain and the Italian Republic.

The Constantinian Order and the Boletín Oficial del Estado are pleased to announce the forthcoming publication of The Constantinian Order of Saint George and the Angeli Farnese and Bourbon families which governed it, by Guy Stair Sainty. This is the most comprehensive history of the Order from its foundation to the present, including an examination of the conversion of Constantine, the complex relationships between Balkan dynasties, and the expansion of the Order in the late 16th and 17th centuries until its acquisition by the Farnese. The passage of the Gran Mastership from the Farnese to the Bourbons and the subsequent succession within the Bourbon family is examined in detail with many hitherto unpublished documents. The book includes more than 300 images, and the Appendix some key historic texts as well as related essays. There is a detailed bibliography and index of names

Exposicion Carlos III de Borbón
Our Exhibition “Carlos de Borbón. From Barcelona to Naples” (Charles of Bourbon, from Barcelona to Naples), traverses the Mediterranean itinerary of the Infante and later King Charles III, between 1731 and 1759. More than 100 pieces, thirty providers, master pieces from the most important public and private collections, many of them unseen, shows the most heroic profile of a Prince, whose Italian destiny was culminated in the forging of a new Monarchy (that of the Two Sicilies) and the birth of a new Dynasty (Bourbon-Two Sicilies). Barcelona hosts a unique exhibition dedicated to the Monarch, nearly being celebrated its birth tricentennial, remembering the two visits of Charles of Bourbon to our city.

The Exhibition is organized by the Sacred and Military Constantinian Order of St. George, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport.
