Great Mastery

The Grand Master is the highest authority in the Constantinian Order. The Bulla Militantis Ecclesiae (1718) of Pope Clement XI established the succession in that dignity in the descendants by primogeniture of the House of Farnese. After the death of the Duke Francisco I of Parma and of his brother Antonio I of Parma, in 1731, by virtue of same Bulla succeeded in the Great Magisterium, Charles of Bourbon and Farnese, Infante of Spain, as first-born of Princess Isabel Farnesio, niece of the two late dukes.
